Galispo

Matosinhos
Description / Facilities
It´s common knowledge that Matosinhos has a varied offering in terms of restaurants, nonetheless we distinguish ourselves with our homemade type of cuisine and heartfelt welcoming. Close to the city hall, the restaurant Galispo has been around for 30 years, but then again with a new management since 2004. Inside, there’s a large space with different rooms including a mezzanine with kitchen view which shows the confidence we have on the talent of our cook D. Amélia, the manager’s wife.
We offer a daily menu which includes bread, soup the main dish and a drink (5.50€ only).
We also have a third option menu, either meat or fish. Our fish selection of the exact day is fresh fish only.
For dinner, every day except on Sundays, we have specialties and those who cannot resist the Chateaubriant.
On weekends our regular costumers seek arroz de sarrabulho (a rice stew made with pork meat and curdled pig’s blood), Cozido á Portuguesa (a Portuguese stew made with meat, rice, potatoes and vegetables e sausages), lamb and veal.
If the client wishes fish, there’s always scabbard fillets with clam sauce, octopus and different ways of salted Cod fish, such as Bacalhau á Braga (roasted cod with potatoes, garlic and boiled eggs) or Bacalhau á Zé do Pipo (roasted cod with mashed potatoes and black olives).
All suggestions are combined with our house wine coming from Mesão frio.
For desert, nothing better than our several possibilities such as: a slice of cookie cake, chocolate mousse with biscuits or chocolate cake with ice-cream.
