Cavacório

Vila Real
Description / Facilities
The “Cavacórios” are sweets associated with the festivities in honour of St. Lazarus, which take place in one of the most typical neighbourhoods of Vila Real, the Santa Margarida (popularly known as Bairro dos Ferreiros) two weeks before Easter. They have concave shape, similar to a bowl, and, given the fact that Vila Real is inserted in a winery region, over the years it was being associated with an act: pierce the bottom of the concavity with a fork or a toothpick, and pour some Port. The result is sublime. We invite you to experience!
