Wood is widely used in the production of decorative and utilitarian pieces. In Barcelos there is a set of craftsmen that works this kind of material in a careful and artistically way.
The route of the wood does not focus on any specific territorial area, therefore you can find this kind of cultural and artistic work dispersed all over the municipality.
The most common pieces are wooden miniatures; mostly of them represent scenes of rural life (granaries, rakes, looms, spinning wheels, spindles...) and toys (cars, spinning topsÂ…). They also do bigger pieces, such as farm instruments, rustic furniture pieces and religious pieces (crucifixes, shrines...). Here you can also find production of bowls, yokes, casks and sculptures of saints in real size. Currently, the Rooster is used as a decorative peace, but it keeps its identity, beauty and hardiness.
