The Printing Museum opened to the public on 25 April 1996 at the palace in Rua José Cardoso Vieira de Castro. Today it is housed on the ground floor of the Municipal Cultural Centre and exhibits the machinery and equipment used for composition, printing and finishing works of newspapers “O Desforço”, founded in 1892 and “Almanaque Ilustrado de Fafe”, founded in 1909, both now closed. It also has an important collection of engravings used for printing the newspapers.
Its collection includes a press dating back to 1885, and other more recent equipment, displayed to show the evolution of printing, from manual to mechanical composition.
Besides the shop itself, the Museum also includes a collection of other local newspapers, various documents and a reproduction of the workplace managed by the former director of the publications, Artur Pinto Bastos.

Tuesday to Thursday: 9 am–1 pm / 2 pm–5.30 pm
Fridays: 9 am–12.30 pm
Saturdays and Sundays: closed to the public
