Pillory of Soutelo do Douro

São João da Pesqueira
Description

As the symbol of the administrative authority of Soutelo, this pillory is one of the heritage legacies of the S. João da Pesqueira municipality. In Manueline style, this pillory is an elegant listed monument. The foot of the monument consists of three squared steps, with projecting flanges. The lower base is also a chamfered square, transforming it into a cylindrical drum. The pillory shows the national coat of arms.

As this is an outdoor location, it can be visited at any time of day, so no booking is required.
