This road bridge was projected by the Engineer Adão da Fonseca and its building had as goal to replace the upper platform of the Luiz I bridge, meanwhile converted to Metro passage. Built in reinforced concrete, it has a length of 371 meters and 20 meters width. It is situated in open historical area and next to the Serra do Pilar escarpment.
