Cultural Forum of Ermesinde and Urban Park
The Urban Park was inaugurated on the 11th/July 1998. It is located where the Fábrica da Telha (tile factory) stood and consists of a green area with mini-golf, restaurant facilities, a lake and cultural infrastructures.
Set in the park, the Ermesinde Cultural Forum opened on May 18th/2001. It occupies the old factory building, which conserves the oven as a museum gallery. The adapted space also has an auditorium and temporary exhibition galleries.
The factory was established and began to work in 1910 under the name of Empresa Industrial de Ermesinde, dedicated to the production of the Marseille style tiles and ordinary bricks. In the 20s it reached great prosperity. This activity was growing and new partners were associated, giving an excellent example of industrial architecture of the early century. The place was acquired by the Municipality of Valongo, being adapted to the Cultural Forum and the Urban Park.
The Cultural Forum practices the following schedule: Colses on mondays; Tuesdays to Thursdays: 9h-13h, 15h-19h; Fridays: 9h-13h, 15h-19h, 21-23h; Saturday: 15h-19h, 21h-23h; Sunday: 15h-19h.
