The Wolf Pit of Avelar is one of the major points of interest in Montalegre, part of the Trail of Ourigo. It is a trap of hunt for wolves, consisting of two stone walls that converge to a stoned hole approximately 2 metres high, in which animals would fall after accosted by people. Covered with vegetation, it still recalls the times when the wolf was feared up on the mountains.
