In the village of Marmelal you can enjoy the scenic picture of the Douro River in the background, with the mouth of the River Tedo joining it, framed by the beauty of the terraced vineyards. Marmelal was one of the first municipalities of Armamar, had a charter in the year 1194. For centuries the population had no access by land, and the Douro River was the only contact with the outside.
