Description
The casa da Veiga, located in the parish of Gagos, is a manor of the XVIII. This house was the target of several changes, initiative of the owner Venâncio da Silva Basto, of Brazilian origin. The work with the biggest impact was the demolition of the chapel and the construction of the Neo-Romanesque tour, in stonework. In the house of Veiga lived Inácio Teixeira Coelho, supporter of D. Pedro IV during the liberal revolution of 1820, who suffer retaliations to supporting the liberals and confront D. Miguel, wherefore he was sentenced to death in 1830, penalty amended to perpetual exile in Africa.
