Caracalla Milestone

Paredes de Coura
Description
This military milestone is well preserved. It was used as an anthropomorphic grave in the medieval period, without damaging the epigraphical field. As the inscription is not complete, and because it was possibly buried, we cannot see to which mile it refers.
The epigraph, in actuary characters, was engraved in a V-shape, with distinguishing points between some of the words, in a single epigraphical field, in fourteen visible lines.
The inscription is honorific, in honour of Caracalla, although some authors believe it is dedicated to Marcus Aurelius.
